In a world where urbanization is increasing and traffic congestion is becoming more common, cities face the challenge of finding efficient ways to manage logistics and transport. In city centers, large trucks are crowded to deliver and pick up goods. In the future, this may be handled by drones instead. \n \nThe UTM City research project, led by Professor Jonas Lundberg at MIT, Link\u00f6ping University, is developing a large-scale demonstrator to visualize how drone traffic between two cities, in this case Link\u00f6ping and Norrk\u00f6ping, can be planned and controlled. \n \nThe research is being conducted in collaboration with the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration and Saab, and examines how drone traffic can be integrated into urban environments and near airports. The aim is to streamline deliveries, reduce traffic congestion and make cities safer and more livable. By creating a visualization environment where decision-makers can see how drone traffic is integrated into the urban landscape, the project creates an understanding of the potential and benefits. \n \nThe research has attracted considerable interest both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n
