Data Ghosts
Can you create a spooky ghost out of data? The answer is yes—and it’s easier than you think!
Data isn’t just numbers and graphs—it’s information. Every day, through our choices, each person generates large amounts of new information. Information that, if collected or processed, can be turned into data.
By reflecting on the data you create yourself, you’ll get the chance to make a personal ghost that represents your data. What will your ghost look like?

TinkerCad
Do you like Minecraft and enjoy creating worlds and environments in 3D?
Using a computer and the program Tinkercad, you can try creating your own 3D models and environments. Discover tons of pre-designed objects and place them however you like. Build a pumpkin, a witch, or why not a chilling haunted house?
It’s a plus if you have some computer experience, but it’s not a requirement—you can also learn on site.

Micro:Bit
Want to learn a programming language for real? Here you will have the opportunity to see in a playful way how digital block code is transferred from a computer screen to a microcomputer!
The Micro:Bit technical material introduces you to the basics of programming languages in an educational way. To help you, you have a user-friendly computer program and a microcomputer that can blink, sense movement, display text and much more.
With Micro:Bit, you can start from scratch – without any prior knowledge and feel how the educational tasks and missions at the right pace let you develop your understanding of programming. Of course, there are also difficult challenges for those who come already loaded with prior knowledge!

OpenSpace
Have you ever wondered what lies beyond our solar system? With the computer program OpenSpace, which is developed by Linköping University and here at the Visualization Center, you get the whole known universe in front of you.
Using OpenSpace is like playing a video game but with the big difference that everything you see is based on real data! You’re sitting with the same content in front of you that space scientists do. Doesn’t that sound cool?
With OpenSpace, you can travel anywhere in space, and during the autumn break we’ll put a bit of extra focus on exploring whether there might be other life out there. Visit Jupiter’s moons, land on Mars, and observe the exoplanets. Do you think aliens really exist?
