The Secrets of Visualization
How do we create the visual magic in the world of Wisdome? How can visualizations help us discover the universe, create digital realities, or travel into the smallest nanoworlds?
In Wisdome – The Exhibition, you will meet the producers behind our award-winning dome shows and get behind the scenes of the spectacular productions. The foundation of everything is the world-leading visualization research conducted at Linköping University.

In the dome show Chemistry of Life – An Invisible Inner World, we let the smallest take center stage. We travel into a world of cells and molecules, too small to see with the naked eye, to learn more about one of the most fundamental aspects – the chemistry of life.
In this interactive installation, you can explore the molecular processes that are central to all biological life. How do the body’s cells handle an infection, and how is vital energy created inside the cells every second? Now you can discover and see some of the smallest, yet most important, aspects more clearly than ever before.
The dome show and installation were created by Visualiseringscenter C within the Wisdome project, supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, in collaboration with Dr. Drew Berry at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, and Nanographics. The content is based on measurement data from research studies in molecular biology.
In the dome show VAST – A Cosmic Journey Through Time and Space, we embark on a journey farther out into the universe than any human has ever been. Join us on the journey that starts in our own solar system and extends all the way to the beginning of everything – the Big Bang.
In this interactive installation, you can explore the universe using OpenSpace – the same software used to create Stort. Learn about the different planets in our solar system, join the Voyager space probe on its endless journey in the universe, or why not find out more about the biggest question of all – is there life out there?
The dome show and installation were created by Visualization Center C within the Wisdome project, supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. OpenSpace is developed by Linköping University together with NASA and the American Museum of Natural History, among others, and is based on a scientifically accurate model of the entire known universe – everything we have been able to measure or see so far.
In the dome show Making Magic – A Visual Effects Story, we travel into the digital world and learn more about how visual effects are created in the film and gaming industries. How can we create a virtual world that is so similar to our own that we can hardly tell them apart? Join us and experience the magic – from equations to explosions.
In the accompanying installation, you can discover how fire, smoke, and liquid are created digitally. What makes it look so realistic? What calculations are used? What does it look like behind the scenes and how can a dinosaur come to life? Try it yourself!

Learn more about the Wisdome project, its background, and what makes it a unique world-class initiative. Go behind the scenes and meet some of the people who make it all possible. Here you will learn more about the different productions and how they can help us understand the world around us in a whole new way.
In the coming years, Visualization Center C will launch two more productions within the Wisdome project. Here you can find out more about the exciting themes that are coming up. You can also make your own suggestions and questions. Join us and help us create more fantastic productions. What would you like to know more about?
