Are you creative and
curious about the world?

The Creative Studio gives everyone in the family the chance to discover, explore and create through exciting activities linked to STEM – science, technology, engineering and math. Every day between 14:30-16:00, a variety of free activities and materials are available in our Creative Studio – at the top of the building on floor 5.

All the materials offered in the Creative Studio are accompanied by simple manuals, as well as a set of simple and exciting assignments and tasks that you are welcome to try.

We have written out a recommended age based on the ease of understanding and managing the materials and activity on your own. With an adult’s support, most activities are suitable for the whole family.

Cubetto

Meet the friendly and cute wooden robot Cubetto and discover the basics of block programming.

Using tiles and a control panel, you can program and decide where and how Cubetto will move on the fun playground. By meeting Cubetto the robot, you will get in touch with the basics of programming and concepts such as algorithms, sequences and logical thinking in an easy and playful way.

Bracelets made of data

Can you make a real bracelet out of data? The answer is yes and it’s easier than you think!

Data is not just numbers and charts – data is information. Every day, every person creates a lot of new information through their choices. Information that, if collected or managed, can be turned into data.

By thinking about the data you create, you can create a personalized bracelet where each bead represents something important to you – your data. What will your bracelet look like?

LittleBits

Can you build a flashlight in 10 minutes? What happens if you connect a battery, a motor and a door?

The LittleBits technical building material opens up a world of creativity, problem solving and engineering.

With magnetic electronic modules that easily click together, you can easily create smaller technical systems that can perform a task.Build from ready-made assignments or let your imagination set the limit for what you want to create. Feel free to enhance your technical construction with design by using our developed craft materials.

Tinkercad

Do you like Minecraft and enjoy creating worlds and environments in 3D?

Using a computer and the Tinkercad program, try your hand at creating your own 3D models and environments. Discover a wide range of pre-designed objects and place them as you wish. Build a house, a machine or why not your own space base?

It is a plus if you have some previous computer experience. However, this is not a requirement and you can also learn on the job.

Micro:Bit

Want to learn a programming language for real? Here you will have the opportunity to see in a playful way how digital block code is transferred from a computer screen to a microcomputer!

The Micro:Bit technical material introduces you to the basics of programming languages in an educational way. To help you, you have a user-friendly computer program and a microcomputer that can blink, sense movement, display text and much more.


With Micro:Bit, you can start from scratch – without any prior knowledge and feel how the educational tasks and missions at the right pace let you develop your understanding of programming. Of course, there are also difficult challenges for those who come already loaded with prior knowledge!

OpenSpace

Ever wondered what’s outside our solar system? With the computer program OpenSpace, which is developed by Linköping University and here at the Visualization Center, you get the whole known universe in front of you.

Using OpenSpace is like playing a video game, but with the big difference that everything you see is based on real data! You’re sitting with the same content in front of you the space scientists do. Doesn’t that sound cool?

With OpenSpace, you can travel anywhere in space. Why not try steering to Mars or exploring new worlds, exoplanets and galaxies?
