More than 50 years after humanity last set foot on the Moon, we are entering a new era of crewed lunar exploration. In Once Upon the Moon, we meet the astronauts who shaped history — and those carrying it forward. Through advanced visualization technology and groundbreaking research, we journey back to the Moon and experience how collaboration between people, science, and engineering made it possible to leave Earth and reach the lunar surface.
Through interviews with Apollo astronauts Harrison Schmitt and Charles Duke, audiences are invited to relive the Moon missions of the 1970s, brought to life through OpenSpace visualizations. We also meet Christina Koch, who participated in the recent crewed lunar mission Artemis II, and Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt, who spent 17 days aboard the International Space Station in 2024.
Once Upon the Moon is a new WISDOME production by Visualization Center C at Linköping University. The film uses the visualization software OpenSpace to combine authentic images and footage, firsthand astronaut accounts, and visualizations based on real scientific data.
Join us for a journey back to the Moon as we celebrate science and the premiere of Once Upon the Moon.
